Envelope, does it pay off?

Today, I provide mainly three types of articles on this blog. A first part evokes my personal experience around finance, talks about my investments, my projects, my earnings, … The second part is more didactic and aims to present and explain certain principles and concepts , of course always in the financial field. Finally, a last part corresponds to the good plans that I share with you , because I think that they could interest some of you. And above all, it would be a shame not to share it with as many people as possible!

I would like with this article to propose a fourth type of article, which will aim to share with you other means than those that I have already used to earn money or to make ends meet. So we’re going to talk about one of these methods today by touching on a subject that many of you already know, at least by name: inserting.

Envelope, does it pay off?

Before going any further, a little reminder is in order. Even if I think you all have an idea of what enveloping is, I prefer to use here the definition offered on the Le Dico du Marketing site, which I think is quite relevant:

For those who do not know, know that it is possible to be paid for this mission. The objective is then to envelop a given quantity of documents in a defined time. In the same vein, packing also makes it possible, by packing parcels, to hope to receive a small additional salary. It has the same advantages and disadvantages as inserting, which we will discuss together in the next part.

Nice transition, right? 🙂

First advantage and not least, it will very often be possible for you to carry out this work from your home. At a time when traveling can quickly constitute a significant part of your monthly expenses, this is a clearly positive element. No travel costs, no stress in traffic jams, no wasted time . You can work at any time that suits you.

Second positive point, again far from trivial. In general, this type of work does not require special qualifications and is accessible to almost everyone. Learning is easy, and even if it is always possible to optimize its performance by improving its speed of execution, by dint of repeating and always carrying out the same action, you will be able to be operational in just a few minutes.

These are two very nice advantages that many might find interesting: you can work from home, without needing to be covered with diplomas of all kinds ! It could be tempting, right? But that’s all well and good, but in the end, does putting it in the envelope pay off?

Because it’s all well and good, but I remind you that we do all this to make money! 🙂

Envelope, does it pay off?

If I told you that the associated income can be significant, would you be interested? Or would your ear (your eye in this case 🙂) be more attentive?

Indeed, it is sometimes possible to receive sympathetic sums in this way , while fulfilling in passing its role as a citizen. Enough to kill two birds with one stone. This is particularly the case during the election period, when certain cities and other administrations offer missions aimed at putting the lists of candidates into envelopes, then depositing the envelopes thus filled in our mailboxes. This was for example the case in Toulouse in 2014, where the municipality had recruited agents for envelope filling missions. The lucky winners were thus able to receive between 300 and 350€ each for a few days of intervention. A nice number, don’t you think?

It’s too good to be true ? Not quite, but almost. The case I mentioned is true, but rather an exception in the field. Unless you are very “lucky”, you will rarely come across this type of offer. However, you can always try it with the town hall of your city or village during these famous election periods, you never know!

This kind of task is in fact extremely little in demand today. Beyond a few specific needs, everything is now easily automated. It is therefore much more profitable for a company to use a dedicated machine than to outsource this work to an employee. There are, however, rare requests of this type for special needs, but consider these to be very marginal. Worse, it seems that the vast majority of offers are actually nice scams aimed at scamming unfortunate people looking for a few euros to supplement their income. The examples given on this forum of the famous site Au Féminin are the perfect illustrations.

You will have understood it, it is almost impossible today to hope to earn money thanks to the enveloping. Unfortunately, it is even more likely to come across scams than the few real opportunities that might arise. Anyway, no regrets to have: this type of mission is, in France and at best, paid at the standard hourly minimum wage. So don’t expect to make a regular and easy income out of it.
