Each new year gives everyone the opportunity to set a certain number of resolutions, some of which will not last longer than the end of January.
In the same vein, I have set myself some objectives for 2014. I propose here to share some of them, on which you can follow my progress throughout the year.
I currently have a few thousand euros spread over different savings vehicles, the main ones being:
These supports fulfill different roles (precautionary savings, savings for projects relating to the home, for the children’s studies, etc.).
Some are fed through monthly transfers, following the logic of “paying yourself first”, and therefore see their capital grow regularly as long as my wife or I do not draw on them.
Given the past history and current or future projects over the next 12 months, the 2014 objective is ambitious: to increase by €10,000 the savings available on these different media.
Recurring direct debits represent a significant part of our monthly expenses. In particular, the following are deducted:
An exercise to optimize these expenses, and therefore my finances, had been started, especially on telephones (thanks Free, thank you Sosh!), it remains to continue over the coming year! A few avenues for optimization are already underway (car insurance) or under consideration (bank charges), let’s hope they help achieve this goal!
If you have any ideas, do not hesitate to indicate them in the comments, I am interested!
The title of this objective is probably not very clear, a little explanation is needed. In 2013, I managed to earn €1,300 by accumulating bonuses for opening bank accounts, sponsorships and cashback on certain purchases or registrations. I will go into more detail on this subject in a future article.
The idea is not to repeat the performance, which was exceptional, but to approach it. And since it’s easier to follow a round number, I set the target at €1,000!
First unquantified objective: take the plunge and invest in rental property. It happened to me during the last 2 or 3 years to think more than seriously about buying an apartment or other, in view of our old age (which is not for now!). All without ever daring to take the plunge, always claiming a good excuse (rental vacancy, low yield, etc.). This year will therefore be the good one, certain readings, in particular on the blogosphere, having definitively convinced me of the need to invest.
Some tracks are advanced on the subject, we will also have the opportunity to come back to it through future posts.
Last objective, to reach 100 unique visits to the blog per week. Knowing absolutely nothing or almost nothing about blogging, I have no idea if the figure is too low or excessive, for me it is the great unknown.
For those who have started blogging, does this figure seem realistic to you?
[EDIT]04/04/2014: following the achievement of this objective in March, as indicated in the article Blog statistics – Reporting n°1, the latter is adjusted to reach 100 visits per day before the end of 2014[ /EDIT]
I have some more personal objectives, but which have little interest in being shared.
What do you think of these resolutions? And you, what are your financial or other objectives for this coming year?
