My first niche site #5, review after 4 months

It’s time for the first review of the year 2015 of my niche site. Launched last October, the objective of this project is to continue to diversify my sources of income. It’s a job I started last year. If in 2013, my income came almost exclusively from my salary (and that of Madame 🙂), more than €1,000 per month were added to it in 2014 through the acquisition of our first apartment building. So I now have 2 separate sources of money. And this niche site is the first brick to build a third.

Anyway, that’s all I want!

This article covers the month of January 2015 . If you missed an episode, all my articles related to this niche site remain visible on the blog.

So, what are the actions undertaken during these first days of the year? Overall, I stuck to what I envisioned in the previous post in this series.

Let’s start with the publications, with 2 new articles published on the site. As I indicated in December, these target keywords close to the target niche, but with a relatively small number of searches and rather low competition . The idea is to extend the list of terms present in the long tail to reach and attract more visitors. We will see over the months if this approach is relevant.

Still on the content, that’s it, I took the plunge: I placed an order for 5 subcontracted articles on oDesk. As such, the last article published on my niche site was not written by me.

On the referencing side, I also stuck to what I had previously specified. Little action on this item therefore, if not less than half a dozen comments posted here and there. I will probably have to relaunch my actions in this area for the months of February and March, so as not to rest on my achievements!

So a smooth start to the year.

Beyond these 2 points, I still made some adjustments to the site itself, with 2 objectives in mind:

A month of January finally not very time-consuming as far as the work on the site is concerned. Even if I have to continue the efforts, I think the hardest part has been done. Well I hope so .

This is probably the part that interests you the most. The concrete behind all these actions. But before diving into the figures for the month of January, I’m going to ask you for a little help to make the blog better known around you.

For the month of February and probably the following months, I intend to make some adjustments in my strategy.

Once again, I only think of publishing 2 articles. The idea is to maintain a correct rhythm of publication, Google appreciating this kind of little attentions.

On SEO, I intend to launch 2 new “projects”:

Finally, last item to work on, which I touched on in the first paragraphs of this post: I want to improve my conversion rate , namely the number of buyers in relation to the number of visitors to the site. The idea is to sell more for an equivalent number of visitors. I started the exercise a little after mid-January, in particular through the widget mentioned above, with encouraging initial results. The finding is to be confirmed over the next few weeks. I still have a few ideas to put into practice to try to optimize this aspect, which I will therefore try in February and/or March.

Finally, a little bonus as a conclusion.

In order to validate the mode of operation set up for this first niche site, but also to help me achieve my goal of generating €500 per month with my sites, I launched a second site on the same model . The first phase aimed at offering solid content has just been completed. I will now start the SEO phase, again with an approach similar to that of my first niche site. Wishing me the same success and/or the same luck as with this one .
