In recent years, professional retraining has increasingly tempted employees. Whether it is to change jobs, to boost your career or for a radical retraining, this approach requires upstream preparation and significant investment. There are a number of assistive devices to give your project a boost. In this article, find out what you need to know about financing a professional retraining.
Even if you are employed on a permanent contract, the need or the desire for a professional retraining can arise at any time. Several financing solutions are at your disposal to make your project a success.
The Personal Training Account is the best known of the financing schemes. It is intended for all workers whether they are employees, self-employed, entrepreneurs or job seekers. Indeed, the CPF allows you to acquire training rights in the form of euros. You can use them at any time until retirement.
Concretely, you can acquire 500 euros per year for full-time work. This amount can be combined up to 5000 euros. For low-skilled employees, the amount is 800 euros with a ceiling reassessed at 8,000 euros. If you are unemployed, you do not generate new rights, but you can use your CPF credit.
Note that training can take place outside of your working hours. If your employer gives you his agreement, you benefit from a leave of sufficient duration to follow the training. At the same time, you will continue to be paid by your current company.
In the event that you do not have enough credits to finance your training, you can request additional contributions from your CPF. This is additional funding for your training. This can cover 100% of the remainder to be paid, up to a limit of 1,000 euros per training file. This additional help is provided by Pôle Emploi, your employer, associations or the State.
Specially dedicated to professional retraining, the professional transition project (PTP) replaces the old CIF (individual training leave). It allows you to follow a certifying training in another field of activity while keeping your position and your remuneration. To qualify, you must be:
Also called professional transition CPF, this device allows you to be absent from your job for the duration of the training. To do this, you must develop a professional training project and make an estimate with the service provider you have chosen. Then, you must submit the file to the Joint Interprofessional Commission in your region. It must assess the relevance of the profession you have chosen.
The professional transition project covers the training costs up to 18,000 euros as well as your salary, the time of the training. During this period, your contract is suspended, but you keep your employee status within the company. At the end of the training, you can resign from your old job and focus on your new job.
Promotion by alternation, or Pro-A allows employees to move up in rank within the company thanks to alternating training. The system is aimed at low-skilled employees, that is to say those with a level of diploma lower than Bac+3. The duration of the training can vary between 6 to 12 months.
This upgrading can be at the initiative of the employer or the employee. It is organized internally as part of an increase in skills or professional reorientation. You can follow the training during or outside your working hours. In any case, you keep your job, your salary and your social protection during the training.
The Pro-A system allows the company to strengthen the skills of its employees while facilitating internal mobility. The employees concerned will receive a professional certificate at the end of the training. It should be noted that promotion through work-study programs particularly concerns the sectors of activity most under strain.
Many job seekers decide to turn to a professional retraining project. This approach can be financed in several forms.
In the same way as employees who wish to carry out a professional retraining project, job seekers can also use the amount available on their CPF to finance their training.
As a general rule, training rights are funded through social declarations sent by your employer. During your period of unemployment, you did not acquire rights. To benefit from the training, you can use the rights accumulated when you were still employed. Indeed, you can mobilize your CPF without asking for authorization from Pôle Emploi.
The AREF is intended for beneficiaries of training offered by Pôle Emploi. In general, this allowance is equivalent to the classic ARE (Return to Employment Assistance). Indeed, it depends on the gross monthly salary received by the employee when he was in office.
Note that this aid for returning to training employment can be combined with the active solidarity income (RSA), and under the same conditions as the ARE. However, the minimum amount is different for employees who work part-time.
The AREF is paid each month by Pôle Emploi. If at the end of the training you have not exhausted your rights to the ARE, you can benefit from them again.
The RFPE is aimed at those who do not receive unemployment benefit. If this is your case, you can benefit from this financial aid to follow a training course approved by Pôle Emploi. This apprenticeship allows you to strengthen your skills or acquire new knowledge to access a professional retraining.
The amount of the RFPE varies according to the duration of the training (up to 3 years). But, you can receive up to 652.02 euros per month. To benefit from it, no additional steps are required. Eligibility is detected automatically when you register for training. Basically, the RFPE is accessible to jobseekers who no longer have access to their rights, whether it is assistance for returning to work (ARE) or the professional security allowance ( ASP).
This system is intended for job seekers at the end of their rights. In practice, if you have started training but have not been able to complete it, Pôle Emploi takes over and compensates you until the end of the course.
The amount of the RFF is equal to the last daily amount of the ARE or the ASP that you received on the expiry date of your allowance. It is capped at 685 euros per month. If the training is interrupted for more than 15 days, the payment of your RFF will be suspended.
To continue to receive it, you must go to Pôle Emploi each month to update your situation. Indeed, you must be registered with Pôle Emploi to be able to benefit from the end-of-training remuneration. In addition, the training of your choice must be recognized as qualifying by Pôle Emploi.
The “Training Action Prior to Recruitment” or “Optional Preparation for Employment” schemes promote the professional reintegration of job seekers. They allow you to acquire the skills sought in sectors with labor shortages.
The AFPR and the POE are two short-term funding aids that share the same objective: pre-recruitment and tailor-made training. Thanks to these systems, you can apply for a job offer following an upgrade of your skills.
The duration of the training is 400 hours maximum, full or part time. It is carried out either by an organization internal or external to the company, or by the employer in the form of tutoring.
The AFC is a financial aid which aims to facilitate the return to employment. The training aims to bridge the gap between the skills of the job seeker and the requirements of the labor market. You are particularly concerned if you have a low level of qualification or if you have a professional retraining project.
To access this system, you must be registered as a job seeker without compensation conditions. As shortage occupations have priority, certain profiles are also given priority. In fact, particular attention is paid to long-term job seekers under 26, and to young graduates from sectors with little growth.
During the training period, you are considered a vocational training trainee. If you are a job seeker receiving benefits, you have access to the training job search allowance (AREF). Otherwise, you are entitled to the Pôle emploi training remuneration (RFPE).
To speed up the return to the labor market, training can be carried out collectively in a training center or individually.
Mobility aid is intended for job seekers registered with Pôle Emploi. This is a financial scheme granted by Pôle Emploi to promote your professional mobility. Indeed, it will be granted to you if you go to a job interview, if you start training in a place far from your place of residence, or if you participate in a competition. This aid supports:
In reality, mobility assistance aims to help the most modest job seekers to return to or find work. It is capped at 5,200 euros per year and per household. The duration of the payment depends on the type of aid. For a new job, it lasts 1 month following the resumption of activity. For training, you can benefit from it for the duration of the training, up to a limit of 5,000 euros.
To receive this aid, you must send a request to your Pôle Emploi adviser. To do this, you must comply with all the conditions of attribution. Note that Pôle Emploi no longer reimburses moving expenses.
