There you go, 2014 is gone and a new year 2015 full of promise is starting slowly. The time has come to take stock of the past year and define your goals and desires for the one that is beginning, all accompanied by your traditional good resolutions. But before all that, I take advantage of this post to wish you all, sincerely, an excellent year 2015. Health and happiness for each of you and for your loved ones.
It was a year ago. I shared with you my personal objectives, centered on the field of finance. At number 5, let’s see the path traveled since in achieving my goals. What are my failures and my successes? And even more, what conclusions can be drawn from all this?
The first objective shared with you was ambitious. It consisted of saving the sum of €10,000 over the year. Let’s quickly put an end to all suspense, the objective has been reached and even exceeded. Despite various “unfortunate” events having punctured our financial reserves, the figure was reached. To be transparent, it is clear that the steps taken on some of the other good resolutions taken in January 2014 have clearly helped to achieve this target . I am thinking in particular of the positive monthly cash flow from our first rental investment.
Even if the initial figure of €50 seemed unimpressive, the fact that these were monthly savings made this target all the more interesting to reach. After all, €50 of winning each month still corresponds to €600 of winnings per year ! And the advantage of this type of gain is that it is net of tax, unlike an equivalent salary increase.
I had already mentioned it this summer, again the objective has been achieved. It has even been greatly exceeded. Indeed, we managed to reduce our monthly recurring expenses by more than 100€ , 122 to be exact. Reported to the year, it is thus almost €1,500 that we will save on a regular basis. To achieve this fine performance, we activated three levers:
Winning €1,000 in bonuses is a very strange goal. Behind this target, the idea was to play with sponsorships, account opening bonuses and other cashback-type gains or similar to generate a thousand euros in 2014. Well there again, jackpot! The threshold of €2,000 has been crossed , to arrive at the nice figure of €2,097.93 acquired over the year!
In a little more detail, this sum is distributed globally as follows:
It was the most important objective of the year, the one with the most novelties and risks. After having failed to invest a few years ago, 2014 was to be the year of our first rental investment. It’s now been done since last May and even if it wasn’t easy, the game was worth the effort.
Even if we have had a few ups and downs, we are not shying away from our pleasure and it is clearly very pleasant to regularly collect three rents almost automatically. With a monthly cash flow above €300 , we think we have made a “good little investment” 🙂 . For numbers lovers, they are available on the blog.
The last goal was a little different from the others, as it was not directly related to our personal finances. Revised during the year, it initially consisted of reaching 100 unique visits per week on the blog you are browsing. It was also reached, but I plan to return to the subject in a future post dedicated to my first year of blogging.
In the end, all the objectives set at the beginning of last year have been achieved. Even though I’m extremely proud and satisfied with them, maybe it means that some of them weren’t ambitious enough. As you can imagine, I have also set myself new goals and other good resolutions for this new year. I think I will share some of it with you in a future article.
And on your side, have you kept your good resolutions of the past year? Did you achieve your goals?
