We are almost at the end of summer vacation. The start of the new school year is fast approaching, with its frantic pace that will quickly bring us to 2015. Let’s take advantage of the last days of August to take a break and look back. What happened during this first part of the year? Now that more than half of the year has passed, it’s time to make a new progress report on the objectives I set for myself last January.
The goal was on track, but unforeseen expenses dilute the steady growth of our monthly savings. Following a few problems with the family minivan, we had to dip into our precautionary savings somewhat . This is the purpose of this savings, so no major worries. But it would still have been nicer not to have to use it 🙁 .
However, no particular concern about reaching these €10,000 in savings at the end of the year, but I remain vigilant. In particular, expenses are planned for the end of the year which will not be without impact on our finances, but this time it will be for a good cause! 🙂
At the last count at the beginning of April, the objective had not yet been reached. If you follow the blog regularly, you could deduce that the target is now reached and exceeded.
To achieve this, I activated several levers at my disposal:
In total, these changes have reduced the household’s monthly expenses by just over €122 ! Which is far from trivial, you will agree. Compared to the year, that’s still almost €1,500 to earn compared to the previous year (€1,464 exactly for first-row mathematicians 😉 ).
In 2013, I managed to win the tidy sum of €1,300 in bonuses. To do so, I took advantage of a number of sponsorships and other welcome offers, particularly in the small world of online banking.
Last January, reaching such a high figure again seemed unrealistic to me. Indeed, given the fact that some of these bonuses were one-shot and having already taken advantage of it for the first time, I deduced that it would be impossible for me to find so many bonuses and to reach such a high amount. Well I was wrong…
Drum roll… At the end of July, the sums thus acquired amounted to more than €1,700 , not bad at all! €1,717.93 to be exact. The amount is excellent, but I quietly continue to follow the subject… Just to slowly approach €2,000! 🙂
Personally, this was undoubtedly the most important objective among those set at the start of the year. After having failed to take the leap several times, after sometimes hesitating, my wife and I have finally invested in the rental. It was last May, and for our first rental investment, we set our sights on an apartment building.
We have been taking our first steps as landlords since then, and it is a real pleasure to see several hundred euros arriving each month, not coming from our salaries. It is even more than a thousand euros that regularly falls into our bank account : I invite you to (re)discover the figures of this investment for more details.
This goal achieved, I have only one desire: to get back into the adventure ! Did you say addiction? 😉
The initial goal was 100 visits per week. New to the subject, I probably set a low goal! The target of 100 visits is maintained, but on a single day. And it is much more difficult! Especially after having had, for various reasons, a drop in activity on the blog from mid-June to mid-July!
I’m still a long way off, as you could see in the latest blog stats tracker. But I’m not losing hope, and I have a few ideas to attract more visitors, including:
Of course, if you have other ideas to attract more visitors , I’m interested! Thank you in advance, do not hesitate to express yourself in the comments of this post.
My last report dated from April 2014 and corresponded to the first quarter. 4 full months have passed and things have moved in the right direction. Some objectives have been achieved, others still need to be worked on. Finally, others have been modified and reviewed.
From a personal point of view, I am already very satisfied with the results obtained for these different objectives. But I have the idea to reach them all by the end of December, so I will continue to work on those of which I have not yet crossed the finish line!
For your part, where are you in your personal goals? Have you exceeded them? Do you have any ideas to prompt me to help me achieve those mentioned in this article?
